Occasionally I like to reach out to all of you, the DIC Heads of DIC, to find out what you want to see on Dream.In.Code. So here's your chance to suggest, complain, or even compliment.

So let the feedback fly. We're listening.

i would like to complement all of DIC on the programing forums.
i have notice they are uderstandable and plesant to read with languige that borders on clean. i know we are a minirity but some of us dont like to read txt with lots of swaring.
so it is nice to know i can ask for programing help without haveing to deal with that. i know that in the caffine lounge it is not like this and i would not expect it to be. that would be very high and mity to expect it to be. freedom of speech is important. just thaks to all of DIC for saving it for the caffine lounge.

Perhaps a giant banner, encouraging people to grow up.. . It seems like a great majority of the people here think talking shit on each-other makes them cooler or something. It's pretty pathetic really.

Talking shit? Really?

I thought it was just playful nudging.

EDIT: And yeah, I kinda felt targeted.

Playful banter is cool, but lately people have been getting pretty harsh with their words.

There have been some pretty heated debates lately. If you feel someone is being purposefully hurtful, and not just joking around, please bring it to one of the team members attention (myself included). We've been here for 7 years and most of the regulars know each other in person or well enough that very little is considered mean spirited so we may not notice or interpret something like that.

Thanks for the feedback.

Any suggestions on new features, things you'd like to see changed/fixed/improved, etc.

I still think the old theme was better. You should release the CSS so us orange lovers can use it and Stylish for FF to get olde skoole.

This is just a random observation, but under Firebug(at least over here), the site's main page(didn't test others) takes about 12s to load. I'm not sure if that's because of all the ads/external content getting loaded in, but..it's an interesting load time. Chunks of the site's main page will load faster, but I'm really not able to interact with anything until the load is complete.

Is this when you're logged in? or out?

The ads do add to the overhead, and there are some javascripts that load at the end of the page. Is this just an observation with firebug, or is firebug reporting this? I've run Yahoo's SlowCheck or whatever it's called with FireBug and seen the same thing and optimized the areas I could on both the server and the code. The hompage can be rough because of all the avatars that load.

Hit me up on AIM/Yahoo/MSN to talk about that more if you see something in particular. I'm always looking to shave a few milliseconds off the load time.
