I'm going to be spending the next week or so with family and friends and just wanted to take a moment to reflect on 2007.

This was a big year for DIC. MediaGroup1, the parent company of DIC, became an LLC. We launched the new software development forum. DIC got a new design. The Mentors group was created. C# and VB.NET got their own forum. We released lots of new reference sheets. Web Development got reorganized. Amadeus had his first kid. Nova Dragoon graduated from college. We welcomed NickDMax and 1lacca as moderators. Snoj came to New Mexico and re-programmed DIC. We gave away over $5000 in prizes/t-shirts/thumb drives. The </dream.in.code> trademark was approved. We won a 7 year long domain dispute granting us ownership of dreamincode.com. We welcomed over 3,000,000 unique visitors this year. And our poor little web server handed out over 10,000,000 pages effectively handling close to 80 queries every single second all year long. That's 2.5 Billion queries. And we more than doubled in size from 30,000 members to over 60,000 members.

That's a lot of highlights but it really doesn't even come close to summing up what happened in our community. The friendships that were formed, the laughter, and all the learning is really what 2007 was all about. I got to meet some great people both in person, and in the caffeine lounge. It's been 7 years since I started DIC and every day I look forward to getting on the forums and talking with all of you. My fiance may not like all the time I spend on online, but I really wouldn't have it any other way. You guys are awesome.

So from myself, and the rest of the Dream.In.Code crew, Merry Christmas!

You are right, 2007 has been an incredible year, its the year I found DIC and the rest, well the rest is history. I think you and your team have done an excellent job listening to your user base and making the changes to make their stay more enjoyable.

Since everything that's happened (only a few know the whole story) I don't get to spend as much time here as I used to, but its getting better, maybe I can actually be here more often now that they are doing one helluva job managing my pain (Look out RogerB LOL tongue.gif ).

I'm not sure I like what this implies. One is enough, dammit! wink2.gif

Pretty impressive stuff Chris. You have done a wonderful job at running an effective board and managing the marketing side of the DIC name. I joined a third into the year and have never looked back. I am happy to say that I have provided a wealth of information here, learned some new things, helped hundreds of people and have tried my best to spread a positive DIC image to other parts of the net.

I am glad Snoj and I were able to help spit out the PHP reference sheet and the soon to come advanced PHP reference sheet. Thanks for the help Snoj on the sheets and our team in the PHP forum.

I also want to give a shout out to Programmist, Penny, and 1lacca for allowing me to join the great Java forum team. This team has made the Java forum one of the more active forums and I hope we can continue in 2008.

I want to give a shout out to Psycho for working with me in the VB/VB.NET/C# forums. We rock! And a shout out to the huge team in C/C++ including Amadeus, Nick, Bench, jjhaag, and the countless others. The enormous activity in C/C++ is just a testament of their hard work. Solid and true.

* Damn I participate in a lot of teams. lol *

Who can forget the "fun crew" sloth, marko, Wolf, no2pencil, max302, axel, and skyhawk. Without this team, DIC would be full of geeks that don't do jenkem, don't get to see pics of hot chicks, don't get the witty punchlines, and don't get all the great pictures to illustrate vulgar topics. In other words, we would be boooorrrrinnngggggg!

And lastly to all the people who have contributed and asked questions throughout the year. Without you guys, DIC would just be a bunch of programmers sitting around listening to the "fun crew" banter about obscene material.

Thanks everyone! smile.gif
