Do you just want to stream the audio, or do you actually want to let people control the scanner (both are possible I think, but will have to check with my buddy)
I think it's technically not legal to rebroadcast police communication, but I do recall some other folks doing it, not sure if they were operating under a loop hole or didn't care.
The easiest thing would be to just run the speaker out in to the line in on your computer and setup a Streamcast server (Winamp) and voila, you're done.
I'll get some more info from my buddy for you though.
I'd like to let others control it as well. As for the police communications - maybe I can not allow access to the trunking system police and rescue run on or even find a way to restrict acess to those channels. - I am completely green to this and at this point the last thing I want to deal with is a lawsuit. I just think it would be cool to hook up the scanner and be able to remotely control and access this from another computer. I came across a site that did something similiar before and actually it happened to be a police communication.
I like your suggestion about the Streamcast server with (Winamp) - any info provided on doing this sort of thing would be greatly appreciated.
Considering my knowledge level at this point, it may best best if I start off by streaming the audio until I am more comfortable with the security risks involved and the server load I will be bringing upon myself.
Thanks for the help.
