The dollar sign is a pretty unique character from ordinary programming statements. Makes it easier to read that it is first a variable and that the compiler can easily spot it as a variable. It just serves as a special queue to let the compiler know it is meant to be a variable. Other languages have different symbols or keywords... VB has Dim, C++ has data types like int, bool, or double... COBOL has where its defined marking it as a variable.

I hope that is what you were asking. smile.gif
