hey i just wanted to find out if any 1 done any programming on a ti 8x graphing calc. specifically the problem im having is there are no arrays or at least im not seeing it. im trying to write a little statistics program which can have different number of variables so i need to be able to store those values, but the problem comes up because there can be 6 values or there can be 15 values. any 1 know a way to make it work? i think its assembly language but its very similar to java in an odd and freaky way.

The on-calculator language is TI-BASIC. A great place to learn it is http://www.ticalc.org/

And no, as far as I can recall from my TI-BASIC days, there are no arrays. You'll have to declare all the variables you'll need.

You can do assembly programming for the calculator, so long as you learn to program for the Zilog Z80 microprocessor, as that's what's running the calculator.

Ye, TI-BASIC isnt very good for programming complex programs because it is exactly that, basic. You could do some plug into a formula programs, some people have made very complex stuff with it but it isnt really made for that. if you want fast execution and more felxebility then use the assembly language.

They still make those?

If I remember correctly, there are several statistical lists on the calculator. Each one can take 99 values. That should be more than enough for anything you want to do on a calculator.

*Why* did I forget about those? I don't equate "list" and "array" in my head... I shoulda remembered from my middle school days. sleep.gif
