I am creating a new MMORPG, and I've got the main parts together and working, I am just needing more file space, and a broadband, or Wi-Fi server, as well as a few more computers, and a multiplayer interface system. I was wondering if anyone here knows how to create a whole new multiplayer interface. I'm so psyched. This game has passed all of my previous expectations, but I still need to add the core error system for when players try to bypass a mandatory quest or lesson. I need, also to set up a weapons changing system, as my system has developed a bug that causes the player to only be able to wield only one weapon throughout the entire game. It has caused me to have to backtrack all the way back to the starting point for it. I hope to have it ready for beta testers by December.

Nevermind what I posted earlier, this kid is full of crap and doesn't have a clue what he is talking about.
Ask me how I can tell.

I have played Runescape for a long time, but am starting to get fed up with them. I plan on programming an MMORPG called, well, I don't have much of a name for it yet.
Programming Languages: HTML (What type of game is this kid making that can compete with RuneScape in HTML?) Years Programming 1
and to think I was going to offer to help him with his problems...

Chill out man. I see so many "I'm going to make a MMORPG" posts in this forum over the past few weeks alone. I've also seen just as many posts asking to beta test...
Everyone starts projects that they can't necessarily finish. This guy's project probably isn't going to go anywhere, but he's on the right track. Maybe he'll pick up a programming language (html is for markup, not making programs) from it. He might not make anything now, but in a few years... who knows?
You should stick to working on your "Runescape killer". Once that's off the ground, then feel free to come back and gloat.

you have to start out somewhere and who knows what will happen once you get started. but if you want to make a better than runescape just make it faster. i suggest using ruby instead of java(i have nothing ageinst java but ruby is faster). make a ton of plot and create an awesome world. then create some killer graphics and hey your good to go. just don't forget that most of the games like runscape and WOW ect... have entire teams of programers that do just that as there job for years. so if you want to make something better than that you better be very devoted.
but hey you have to start somwere. and if you ever get it working i would love to test it.
No one is dethroning Runescape anytime soon for one simple reason: critical mass. Runescape has legions of fanatical 14 year olds worshipping it. You can make a better game, but you'll have a rough time getting them to play it.
I'm not sure Ruby would be very good for making an applet game, but I might be wrong.
Yeah, the project I'm working on more then likely won't ever get finished either but this kid is claiming to already have so much done when infact he has nothing. Until he atleast has the slightest idea of how to go about making the game or any program in general, he shouldn't go posting that he's almost done with the world's next best game.
I understand where everybody is coming from, especially the kid. I've seen a lot of "I'm new to programming, is their a tutorial to help me make the next best MMORPG?" and whatnot, it's exciting and feels great after spending months, if not years on a project that turns out to be halfway descent.
Start small... you have your entire future to spend working on a MMORPG. I've been working with C and Java for roughly 5 years, and it wasn't until my 2nd or 3rd year that I started working on a MMORPG (which was 2D and I actually had nothing to do with game development, I worked on the utilities - it was really the first game that I had anything to do with). It wasn't until my 4th year that I really started working on a serious game; even after 5 years or more of programming I still am not capable of making a MMORPG (even on a small scale) by myself.
And please don't make the same mistake I made by starting with Java. It took me a long time to understand everything, start simpler with Visual Basic or (from what I've heard) C#.

Do you know for certain he has nothing? It's not like you need to be honest when you fill in the languages you know, or write an exam on them - you just have to be willing to enter them in the "Languages" box when you edit your profile.
To be clear, this isn't a flame. The information entered on this "kid"'s profile does seem suspect. But I wouldn't discount him until I've seen what he has(or hasn't) done.
