Hey all,
I'm currently using vista on a laptop, where a mic and camera are built in.
Every time I try to start webcam i MSN (I have the newest version), it gives me a messege like:
"Your conversation cannot begin because your camera is currently in use or not plugged in. Make sure your camera is available and try again."
When I go into Audio/Video Setup to try to set the cam, in the place of the picture it says:
"Windows cannot connect to this webcam. Close any program that may be using this webcam and restart this wizard"
But I don't have anything else that's using my camera (I think). I closed all of the vista things like 'Camera Assistant Software', Gadgets, etc.
I can't seem to find a solution. I understand that this could be a number of things... but does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,

Its more then likely a vista driver issue. If you have access to a Windows XP machine plug it in and give it a test. That will at least tell you the camera is in good working order and has no internal issues. Next did you just plug in the camera and let Vista load the drivers? If so they are more then likely default system drivers that dont support everything even know they install. Go to the manufactures site and download the latest drivers, and also check to make sure it is supported by Vista. I had a webcam and when I moved to Vista 64-bit it would no longer work. This was due to a driver issue that the manufactures had not corrected and tech support said they had no plans of doing it.
