After careful consideration by the dream.in.code team, it has been decided to turn off post count incrementing in the Introduce Yourself forum. This means posts made in the Introduce Yourself forum will not add to your total post count, or count in the Top 10 DIC Heads list.
Here's why:
In recent months, we've noticed a sharp increase in the number of people using copy/paste welcome messages and going through 10-20+ threads at a time. We are aware that most are just welcoming members, but others are trying to pad their post counts.
For the time being, the introduce yourself forum will no longer add to your post count, so please only reply to recent threads and those that interest you. While it's great to welcome everyone, if the introduce yourself was posted more than a couple days ago, only reply if you find it interesting.
Also, I've turned the Introduce Yourself forum back on in the "View New Posts" page so everyone has an opportunity to welcome new members instead of the small group of individuals who would always welcome them.
If we can get back to welcoming members with genuine, thoughtful replies, we will turn post counts back on, but I don't want to see the copy/paste replies in 10-20+ threads at once.
