My school doesn't offer PHP. They offer "web page design"; where you learn how to use a WYSIWYG editor, "principles of web design", which is basically the obvious steps, and about half a dozen HTML tags.
But no programming courses --- CSS, PHP, C, nothing.

Nothing like learning on the job . I'm currently learning PHP and MySQL at the moment. If you're interested in someone to help chomp through some code, let me know . Also, I am building a website that will be used to help organize raiding for a WoW guild (we all have our sad little addictions...honestly...liked Asheron's Call better). This is going to be a fairly simplistic site...but hey, push yourself and come up with new projects that seem simple. They rarely are, and if they are, then add in something that makes you swear like a sailor.

Hmmm...a history teacher who speaks to themselves as if in the third person might be interesting... a math teacher who does this is just eccentric... now a science teacher who does that...look for the lightning rods and fresh human body parts...
