Hey everybody, I really hate posting one of these messages, but it seems that the guy who was helping me out has decided to skip town or was kidnapped.
Well, Im looking for a programmer(s) that is willing to help out with a game. We are still in the planning process. Some of the key aspects of the game are that the story and gameplay would be shown in a comic style layout. Battles would generate comic panels based on the players input, enemies, and many other factors.
Our original thought was to tell the story in all comic book style panels, however this might be too difficult to show players movement and having to draw each individual panel would be a real pain. So Im thinking we could do an over the top (Zelda) style. And when a player comes in contact with a enemy he will be able to attack, Comic style fighting would flash across the screen showing the action in more detail.
I myself would be doing alot of the art, along with some other artist I can find. I apologize for sounding like a total amateur (I am) ahead of time.

Anybody interested or questions, feel free to IM me.
Thats pretty nice, but I don't think You need any coders/programmers until You don't work out the games inner workings till the last bit..
Well, I understand working out kinks and ideas to the detail, but I figured it would be easier working with a programmer so that I dont start planning things that would be to difficult to program. I have some BASIC ideas and currently working on the sprites.

Anyways, if You can first vreate all the things on paper, like the game system it self, it will be easyer for the programmer/coder to figure out if something is hard to code or not.
Dunno when, but I found article on the net how to make nice doom-like walls in c++ maybe You could search for it, it allows to process a plain textfile into a "dungeon" map.

Thanks 2457, I've decided to put a link to the forum where I'm planning to put up all the concept art, sprites, a programmers section, and where the "team" can share ideas so on and so forth.
I've also put the design document (work in progress) up there so guest can have a peek. If anybody is still interested let me know. Thanks again.
2457, How else would you make a game but with a programmer? Writing the game isn't what I'd consider a last bit.
AciD, you seem to have a solid plan. That's a lot more than most people have. You might want to consider merging with another project if you can't find a programmer.
I glossed over it if you already said it, but how much code do you already have written?

I'm not a programmer, however the one who I was working with told me he had some minor work done, but just went AWOL one day. So I'm pretty embarrassed to say that on the programming side we are at square one. I've been working on art portion mean while.
coding things is not the "last bit" never said that. But planning is the first step. A good concept is nice, but it needs to be well documented before any coding can be done.
//short form: if You do not know exactly what is needed to be coded, You can not start coding it, right?

I was referring to you saying this (should have quoted it).

Sorry if I misunderstood what you were saying though.
Hey DIC members (hehe, i love that) thanks for all the input and a big thanks to those members that have decided to volunteer their time to this project. We have a few good programmers and we shouldn't be needing any more. (Although a few sprite artist wouldn't hurt, so send them our way!) Everybody is still welcome to check in at any time and check out the progress we've been making. Thanks again.
