up... I was at the login screen and I choose to run in KDE 4 demo mode. Now I get a gray screen with an irritating desktop manager in the top corner and a useless UI that does nothing.

When I reboot things come up the same...

I can get to an xterm but I don't know how to log the current user out so that I can get to that nice screen where I selected the KDE4 demo mode...

well... no... I can select ctrl-alt-del and get to a nice window that lets me select logout, but it crashes and tells me I should report the bug... its worse the the BSOD...

got it back... whew... when it reset from the lockup it was at the login screen this time.

thanks smile.gif that works nicely. I will have to remember that for the next time I screw things up and need to logout.

I like openSuse... but the install took all day and I really don't want to do it again... but then again, if I don't pay around and mess things up here and there I will never learn how to fix things.

Ctrl-Alt-Bkspce is the universal back-out of Xwindows. It's probably the best reason to use an OS that does not integrate the GUI into the kernel. If everything crashes, you still have control & you can still perform emergency maintenance.
