How do I create a text box where a player can enter their name and then the next screen will have name recognition? i.e. Please enter your name "__________" then a screen that says "Hello John Doe!"

You're going to need to create a text field, of the type "input" (instead of dynamic or static). Then, inside your actionscript you will need to retrieve the text from that field, by setting the instance name of the text field and then retrieving the text inside of it. On the second frame, where you would display their name, you'll need a dynamic text field - which is what you would then store the input into.

I can't seem to find a visual example easily - although you could try Googling for one.

Basically, you're going to need Actionscript to accomplish this.

Hi ladybug

Based on your questions, it seems like you are a newbie in programming like myself smile.gif
So my suggestion to you would be to buy the book called "Beginning Flash Game Programming for dummies". The book has exactly what you are looking for. Forinstens, on page 62 in the book you can find the answer to the problem you describe here in step by step instructions.
