i just updated ubuntu to 8.04 but am having a problem with clicking menus... for a menu in any software when i click the item the drop down menu doesn't work i have to use the alt + _ ( ex. alt + F for file) to get any menu to drop down and for the applications/places/system menu i can get it to open but i have to hold down the mouse button or it will close... is there an option some where to fix this or do you think this is just a bug?

My fault, came out Thursday. Looks like I have to download it now. I will have to see if that issue arises for me as well.

My upgrade is commencing as we speak. Did you upgrade from 7.10 or an earlier version? Were all updates complete before the upgrade?

What type of mouse do you have? I updated yesterday and I had the same issue. I had a Razor Copperhead mouse and had to remove it and use a regular mouse. I think it has something to do with the drivers. I am not sure. I am also investigating this issue.

ok i fixed the problem... in 7.10 i had edited my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to get the 2 side buttons on my mouse to work so i just went back and changed it back to the default setting and my mouse works now even the 2 side buttons that i had a problem with before

NeoGreen you might try this to... open your xorg.conf file and edit the mouse settings

this is mine
CODE
Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier     "Configured Mouse"
    Driver         "mouse"
    Option         "CorePointer"
    Option         "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
    Option         "Protocol" "auto"
#    Option         "Buttons" "7"
#    Option         "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
#    Option         "ButtonMapping" "1 2 3 6 7 4 5 6"
EndSection
