What methods do you use to free your mind?
When you can't use computers...
Last night I was awake for 2 hours trying to get to sleep. I just couldn't, my brain was thinking too much, and the more I tried to not think of anything, a thought would pop into my head and I wouldn't be able to shake it.
I believe I get school work done a lot quicker at home because I can play music, and that drowns out any distractions that may occur. But what about those times where you are not allowed to have portable music devices in classes or meetings etc.
What do you do to calm yourself or free your thoughts? Discuss.
Binaural Beats will clear your mind, & help prepare you for Astral Projection. I have them on my ipod & I can listen to them at work, at the office, or even when I'm laying down & ready to enjoy some shut-eye.
Have you tried I-Doser? I have a couple of times and haven't really benefited much. I do have high-quality headphones too. If you have tried I-Doser, what would your comparison be between the others be?
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

Is this a consistent thing? because sometimes I can't sleep when the seasons change or there is a big storm about to hit. You might just want to try imagining your self putting all the things that you are thinking about into a folder and locking it away... Like mentally going through all the things that bother you, and pushing them away for later. That usually helps me.
What I've heard for calming the mind when thoughts keep bubbling up, is to think of them as clouds. Acknowledge them then let them float away. Pushing them down will only cause them to bubble up again, like pushing a basketball into a swimming pool
1) relax
2)close your eyes
3) slowly breath in and feel the sensation of the air entering your nostrils
4)hold for one sec
5) breath out feeling the sensation of air leaving your nostrils
6) repeat
apparently im sensitive to spirits and i have to open my mind .. spirits being dead people like i can every so often get a thought of what was going to happen and it does happen its was kinda scary at first seeing loads of shadows n shizz but you get used off topic a bit
Last night I tried that Out Of Body beat by HealingBeats. My legs had a couple of spasms, a part of my head twitched violently, and I remember being in a semi-conscious state where my friend was pulling my arm.
I figured Theta waves were closer to Delta then Beta, so I'd give it a go. I went to sleep about 30-40 minutes later after listening for 40 minutes. I think I'll try the dedicated sleep ones from now on.
@capty: My daily routine is much like the one you listed. Everyday I normally play 2 hours of basketball (recess, lunch, after school in my backyard...), and I don't drink Coffee.
I take Valerian to stop my mind, especially at night.
Funny, so does my cat.
Mediation, any kind that does it for you. The cloud method Nova posted is good. There are literally thousands of them. The usual goal is to quiet the mind, thus freeing it from habitual assault of illusions. Once you get the hang of a method, you can reach a happy place pretty quick.
