Hi everyone!
I have a button that when you click it I want it to download a .pdf file, but because it's around 38MB, I don't want to use the getURL function (it opens a new window to load the pdf file and it takes quite a while to load), so I was wondering how should I put this in actionscript?

I found this code from ActionScript 2.0 Classes - > flash.net package - > download but I can't get to make it work!!

any help would be much appreciated!!!

If I understand you correctly, the only other method would be to convert the file to something other than a .pdf and then use that new smaller non proprietary file for downloading. Or possibly try compressing the file as small as possible. Adobe is very proprietary so many times you'll need to use either one of adobes advanced tools or maybe office to convert the file.

This is one reason why I have always hated .pdf files.

Well I have made a catalogue which consists basically on images, this is why the file is so large. it has only a couple of lines in it. so converting the file is out of the question.
thanks for your reply tho.
