How can I make an image a background in my program? And how can I make buttons (or clickable text)?

I don't think you provided enough information for us to help you out. what kind of program do you have? what UI framework or API are you using?
If on windows are you using .NET, MFC, GDI?
or are you trying to transition from a console program to a graphical one?
