Jeff Atwood's, Coding Horror this morning had an interesting blog about the Wide Finder 2 Project. Apparently the guy who started it is looking for little applications that can sort through log files, in particular, Ruby. Mainly because well Ruby is not preforming very well. In fact the first run through with his code took 29 hours and from what I understand, with some optimizations, it's only gone down to 25 hours.

Now while I don't want this to become a bash Ruby thread, but I think that this project is a very good chance for Ruby. That is, this project will the Ruby devs to see areas that Ruby could do better in and what areas in the code that need to be addressed.
