I have had a chat application working before but the problem i had was that you needed to enter the other persons ip and another code to be able to connect and if you don't have them you can not connect.

Thanks for the fast reply. Would it be possible for you to post the code for your application? That would help me soo much. I would just have to figure out a way to connect without getting the ip address...i will have to figure that out. If you could send me that, i would be very thankful.

i downloaded the mswinsck.ocx file and added it into my tools in Visual Basics 2008. Now i have the winsock component in my tools. I did some research on winsock but none of the codes worked for 2008. If someone could help me come up with a code that would use the winsock and the code from vb 2008, i would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
