Well, Knowing how there is a lot of people on this site that have their own little web development company, I thought this may be a good idea for us.

Basically, my idea is to create a ‘client control panel’ that allows our customers to view their website status, transaction history, customer support/trouble ticket, scheduled maintenance news, and more.

I realize I am able to create this using PHP and mySQL, however, it will take a lot less time if we did it as a team, and then shared our complete script amongst one another so we all benefit from the work we put into it.

If you have any more questions, or are interested in this little project post here.

I'm in the process of making one in flash with php/mysql as the backend and all data being transmitted to flash in XML. I haven't gotten much done on it though.

And Chris has already made one like 75% of the way I believe.

Yeh, I did a Client/Project management system for the company I used to work for... problem is, it belongs to them... but I could create a new one with very little effort and it would whoop up on the one I made for them.

I think something cool that we could actually make money on is a site that would allow web dev companies to manage their clients and the billing and shit via our site, like... they can have their own identity and stuff... like CafePress but for web developers kinda thing... get me?!

Far from the truth, check this out

I actually paid for this for a couple months:

http://www.smesource.com/ASP/BillingOrchard.cfm

QUOTE
BillingOrchard is a complete, online billing application for freelance developers, web design firms, and contract employees. BillingOrchard maintains hourly service billing, along with flat fee and recurring billing, such as web hosting or domain registrations.

So we make that... PLUS the ability to handle project and clients smile.gif and we could also do some sort of an agreement with ProposalKit to offer each client pre-done contracts for their clients that would be web-created using the info for each client. Don't know what they would do for that, but I can look into it smile.gif

yeah, i rethought what i said, and i was wrong.. It is a good idea depending on what features are included, such as your ideas.

Is there any true ways to have an agreement on a online contract? somthing i need to look into

You saw the demo prop-kit contract I sent you a couple days ago... I say we create them in HTML and then make it so a web developer can print it out with pre-filled fields right from a control panel type of interface. Then they get it signed in person, but it's a value-added-feature that I think would be pretty slick for newbie developers.
