then i'd like it so that when a player press's SPACE the character attacks another character thats nearby and deals damage.

wow, I've replied to all your posts so far...

To be honest, I don't think you'll get many replies to this. A lot of people will frown upon posts like this asking for code on how to make an RPG.

The only advice I can really give you is to take a look in the game programming forum, and read up on the XNA framework. I've never used it, but I've read good things about it.
[oh, how many times I've said that about XNA now... maybe it's time I tried it...]

Creating a RPG is a quite hard task. Anyway, take a look here:

GameDev Wiki

You can find some reference there. To be more specific, here:

Making even a simple RPG takes a lot of effort. Maybe you should start just by taking simple programming tutorials (like here)?

Creating an RPG from the ground up when you're just starting out is quite a daunting task. If you want, there is an application called RPG Maker XP which is decent to say the least. It gives you fully loaded characters/maps/sets/battle scenes/ etc. All of it is fully customizable as well. I believe the scripting language they use is Ruby.

Then go learn C++ before you want to do something. Besides, what does it matter to the end user wether you coded it in Ruby or C++? Most people won't be able to tell...

It's clear that you've got a lot to learn about all this. After learning a few weeks of C++ (I'm a silly student, I can barely remind things), I was able to make a text based RPG..

I'd say: appreciate what the other people wrote here, it's good advice and they took the time to awnser you.

PS: This is the damn C# section, not the C++ section. God damn it, kid learn to read! </rage>
