This may be an annoyingly novice question, but I am trying to add a YaBB board for a gaming clan site and it says some files need to be uploaded ASCII and some need to be uploaded binary. Do I need a special program to do this? I uploded the whole thing with the site manager within Dreamweaver . I set the Chmod after it was up. I got the main forum page to come up ok, but it is not possible to register or log in. I get 404 error codes from the server. I went through the troubleshooting and all I can see that is possibly out of whack is the upload method.

FTP it.. before you mput or put or send it, type bin and make sure that it says "Type Mode Set to I" or something like that.

yeah u need to get an ftp client.

decent ftp clients will have the ability to switch between ASCII and binary built into their GUI so u can do it quickly and easily.

I use SmartFtp which works fine from me. You can get it from the usual download sites (downloads.com etc...)

Which method does DW use when it uploads through FTP? Maybe I only have to do the half that it doesn't do.

it must be changed to binary BEFORE the upload.. not after. i'm not sure how dreamweaver uploads because i always just save my pages and keep an ftp window open. just use dos, man..

cd directorywithfiles
ftp blahblah.com
login
password
cd directoryforplacingfiles
bin
mput *

I know...hehe. I couldn't figure out where the exact change was for it. I eventually did find it though. It matches much better now.
