I'm currently on Verizon and now have the opportunity to upgrade to a new phone; I was thinking either the Voyager or the Dare. I like the Voyager because it has two screens as well as a physical keypad ($150), but the Dare has a more advance software and resembles that of the iPhone ($199 for both the Dare and 3G iPhone). However, Apple's 3G iPhone costs the same as the Dare with better features and software.

I've heard that Cingular/AT&T has a ridiculously expensive calling plan and to reap the benefits of the iPhone will put your bill at almost $100 a month.

Anybody have any opinions on the phone choices as well as the service providers themselves? Verizon has been pretty good to me, but apparently Cingular is better (down in the Los Angeles area as well as the Bay Area).

It all depends on what you want in a cellphone. I myself, keep it simple. They can call me, I can call them. Caller ID, and voice mail. All those bells and whistles are nice I'm sure, but do you honestly have a NEED for them?
Cellphones were originally invented to use in emergency situations. By the time they hit the market and caught on however, they were in use in business and all that stuff. Unless you need all that internet, games, text shit, it's a waste of money.

i travel quite often and when I'm in the mountains or forest areas, i'm generally the only one with service out of some of the major companies, t-mobile, sprint, att. i use verizon and am satisfied with their service area. in terms of what i researched prior to getting it, they have a pretty nice price for all the little components and functions you get with a cell phone.
