ACL, How would one go about doing ACL in PHP?

I've been trying to figure out how to make a full on ACL system for PHP. I have looked at PHPGACL, but trying to implement it was sort of confusing and it hasn't been updated in 2 years. I know that several frame works have ACL stuff in it, but I don't want to deal with a frame work.

So I did find this: http://www.chronosight.net/view/2007/07/856-acl-in-php.html, but I not thinking it's a full solution....


So how would you try to implement a ACL system in PHP?

There is one small bug in that code - a type - I'll post a new zip tomorrow morning with the fix. I've gone ahead and start a 'framework' around it with a login/registration system. I'll post more about it in the next couple days.
