OK, I have been developing this program for... nearly a year. about 2 months ago i hit a snag, and i do not know how to fix it.It is a very large program, so i don't know exactly who would need what to assist me... so just bare with me.

Basically, I am creating a cash register for a coffee shop, and most of the coding and design work is complete. I do not know, however, how to save data live throughout the day (I assume just use a variable for this, so that's what i did) then move the variable into an excel document, then move down a line in the spreadsheet for the next day's work. I would subsequently need to know how to pull up the weekly totals and daily totals so far... etc, all at the click of a button, which would read from that variable and excel simultaneously...

Does Anyone know what i am talking about??? If so PLEASE e-mail me at diffusionwave@gmail.com

I can provide code and screenshots as necessary, but please contact me first.

Have a good afternoon.

and i also forgot, i'm trying to use a CSV file; it is my understanding this is the easiest way to complete this task, because both MS Excel, and VB.net "communicate" with that type of file.

Moved to VB.NET (You said you were using VB.NET at the end of the post). Also,

Dream.In.Code has a policy by which we prefer to see a good faith effort on your part before providing source code for homework assignments. Please post the code you have written in an effort to resolve the problem, and our members would be happy to provide some guidance. Be sure to include a description of any errors you are encountering as well.

Please post like this:

Thank you for helping us helping you.

I thing you have made it difficult for you by using excel file for saving data. If you had used any database, it could have been very easy to get totals. Also data security is very less in excel files compared to databases. And there are limitations in the amount of data stored in a single excel file. Since development had almost finished I will not ask you to go back. But just think about making a parallel version.

Sorry, but this is not a homework assignment--I only need some assistance with a code error. If this was a homework assignment, i would simply ask the professor. There is no professor, like i have said, i am a designer, and quite frankly am appaled that you would come on here, when im looking for some assistance, and demean me like im a school aged brat! Now if you are not going to help, then must you waste my time? When i get an email telling me someone has given me a response to my problem, i at least expect some help, not a lecture on false topic. Good Day to You! Hmph!!

I doubt very much you will get any help with that kind of attitude. TBH it looks all very cloak and dagger to me, people post here with problems and potential solutions are posted up so they are available for everyone. You want someone to go behind the scenes and email you as your personal helper. Not posting any code up at all is clearly against the rules here. I have asked for help many times in this forum and have always gratefully recieved it and have followed the rules. Hopefully one day I may be in a position to helps others - I would also ask you to post up your code and wouldnt engage in a clandestine 1 to 1 email trail where only you benefit. Possible solutions are posted publicy for the benefit of all.

Alright. Definetly misunderstood. I am serious. I am not here for homework help, just a simple bug, which none of you jackasses seem to know nothing about, (except scolding new people) Apparently I am not wanted here. Once I had the correct syntax, I was going to assist everyone else with my expertise... But fuck it. Guess what! I found the right syntax, and you shitheads can go to hell. crazy.gif Good Day! bananaman.gif

Anger Management class, anyone? I have a feeling he would of gotten banned for extremely foul language sooner or later anyway. Seriously dude, you are the one asking for help, if you keep slamming people like that when they don't give you the response you want, then this isn't the only internet forum you'll be making enemies on. When people want to take the time to read over your problem and assist you with it, calling them shitheads and telling them to go to hell says nothing except that you are an ungrateful shithead yourself.
