I just downloaded and installed Oracle Database XE 10g. Apparently I should be able to click on "Go to Database Homepage" and configure the database from there, however, all I get is a "Cannot find server". There was barely any configuration available in the install so I'm really lost.

Has anyone installed Oracle XE, did it work?

Thanks

Have you tried searching around for any documentation on setting it up? (on the internet)

Keep in mind that if you're connecting to your local host, Oracle is typically open on port 8080. When I installed 10g a while back I had to connect to:

//localhost:8080/apex/

That gave me the login screen. Hope it helps.

Sorry guys, I though I had email notification on this thread but apparently not...

I got it working in the end.. somehow smile.gif

After installing it for about the fifth time, it worked - the only thing I can remember changing is removing an extra entry from my hosts config file so the only entry was "localhost 127.0.0.1".

I'm not quite sure why I did this (must have read something on the net) but somehow it worked...

(and yes ppl, I had read the docs wink2.gif)
