problem: I want to run IRC Server on a network computer with a hub. It has internet access.

How can I have public users like you, be able to connect to the network PC.
I would setup my domain (dns domain) to point at IP, but it will wind up pointing to either this computer, or the network address.

Ok, Your post makes less than any sense.

1. Hubs don't care about Ports.
2. Do you have a dynamic IP?
3. Are you sure you don't really have a Router?
4. If you specify the IP of the computer (and it's not behind a firewall or router and has a public IP) it's going to point to that Computer.

you cant do port fowarding with a hub, so you need a router. get a linksys router, then type in http://192.168.1.1 and then on the password type admin. then click on the advanced button up top then click on fowarding. then fill out all the shit and there you go fowarded ports!

Ok.
I am not stupid.
"Are you sure u dun have a router" oh please. dry.gif

I HATE routers, do not ask me why. I have a few sitting right next to me.

Yes, I have a dynamic IP.

I am hosting an IRC Server in my latop, on network. I have a server, the laptop (client) and another computer (client) my IP directs everything to server.

I want to find out how I can direct Port # bleh, to goto 192.168.0.60..
Example (I know its not possible) http://22.33.44.55:99/192.168.0.60

I know there is a way to do this, but how?

You want a port to forward to a different IP?

And don't act like you know what your talking about when you can't even formulate a sentence:

"I am hosting an IRC Server in my latop, on network. I have a server, the laptop (client) and another computer (client) my IP directs everything to server."

So your Laptop isn't a client, it's the server, and why don't you just run the IRC on the server?

Is it that simple that u use internet sharing through your server? If that's the case then look at that coz then it should have port forwarding somewhere. And yeah, why not run IRC server on your S E R V E R? Oh, there are free programs for dns forwarding. Ex. http://www.dyndns.org

yea is that one reliable? cuz ive hard of the dns2go thing but ive never heard of that one. but yea, that is one way of doin it, and i dont think u can forward ports wit hubs, i beleive that would be the purpose of the router, that and similiar things. blink.gif
