HI I been programming in c++,c,php, html, css ect.

I just looked at some library for Ruby some showed DSL programming.

I really want to know what is Ruby mostly used for.

I am running a linux server and I notice I have a plugin for apache2 to use Ruby.

I would like to know what Ruby can do for web apps and also Desktop Software.

I found many jobs in my area that require to know ruby.

there is a latest job of a project to make web apps.

I like to know generally what you can do with Ruby to use on a website and also as a web app.

This is my real first look at Ruby and am kinda excited seeing example codes and also seeing about 168 lib for it so far.

Ruby is used for everything you can think of.

Ruby has the best ( accordning to most of the web developeres ) web framework - Ruby On Rails . Merb is the other great web framework using Ruby. Of course, you can use CGI class and many more.

It has Java and .NET implementations.

GUI programming : Qt, GTK+, Tk, wxWidgets, WinForms ( through .NET implementation ), Cocoa, Swing/SWT ( JRuby ), OpenGL/SDL binding and innovative GUI toolkits like Shoes

SO it seems it can make web games .

I think I might look into it and maybe start learning it. I currently am making a website and wouldl like to make an IM app that can talk to other IM apps like aim, yahoo messenger, msn, ect ..ect..

I am now going to try and learn Ruby.. is there any good tutorials and websites that help you teach other then the Ruby website.

I saw some sample codes of Ruby but I only see much of the codes to show nothing but other ruby files included.

A great resource I found that may help you out:

http://tryruby.hobix.com/

Went through it yesterday, with no prior ruby experience and am programming away in ruby today quite confidently.

Anything form O'Reilly, Apress, Pragmatic Programmers is good.

I would like to see some programs made with ruby.

I would also like resources to many projects or examples of others doing big projects with this.

I heard you can even make an OS using Ruby.

would like to see some neat software made by this to encourage me to learn Ruby.
