I've been looking around for awhile now for a net-storage device, just for home use. I need cooling, ability to handle at least 1TB w/o burning up. Smb recog. (which shouldn't be a problem i wouldn't think). Problem is, reviews are so mixed and I've had a lot of bad luck in the past. Any recommendations, useful thoughts, anything would be greatly appreciated.

Im running 1 windows, 1 mac, 3 linux boxes/Linsys + wireless dd-wrt firmware
Pretty much would be for backup/storage. so wwaccess is not a necessity.

thanks in advance for the advice! biggrin.gif

What sort of price range are you looking for?

Rackmountable or stand alone?

Netgear offer a good NAS device for the price and almost too simple to configure.

Under $300 would be great(+/= 200). Stand-alone. But like a said, its only for my home network, mostly media server and backup.
Any idea of the model?

Netgear NAS

This is the baby of the NAS family. Not sure on the pricing, that's usually retailer specific. There are other models though.
