There are multiple ways of embedding a video on your page. The increasingly popular way to view as it is downloading is to use a flash player. There are several free ones out there that can play all sorts of video files and might be your best bet.
Otherwise you can look into the <embed> and or <object> tags which can help you out as well. You can find a bunch of information on these tags and flash players right on the web. Just do a search for it.
