Welcome to the Official Dream.In.Code Game Review thread!

When writing a review please include the following.
  1. Game Title

  3. A rating of 1-10. Ten being the best in the following
    • Game Play
    • Graphics
    • Story/Plot

Thanks! I figured this would be benifically to some people who are ify about a game.
I was ify about Fallout but after reading your thread on it I went out and got it and I love it.

My goal is that people will be able to ask questions about your reviews as well. Unlike reading reviews by editors or other people who we have no contact with to ask them some questions about their ratings.

Title: Fallout 3
Platform: Xbox 360 | PC
Genre: RPG
Rating: 5/5

Set in a post-apocalyptic world following the Great War between the US and China you take on the role of a young inhabitant of Vault 101 which is a fallout shelter located in Washington D.C. The vault is said to have been sealed for some 200 years until the players father opens the door to a vast nuclear wasteland.

This is where the story really begins as you will wander around the wasteland in search of your missing father while learning about the outside world. You encounter numerous NPC’s (Non Playable Characters) and are sent on numerous quests throughout your journey. You are presented with several choices throughout the game which in turn will affect the overall outcome of your adventure. New to the Fallout franchise is the introduction to the V.A.T.S system which allows you to freeze time to target specific areas of your enemy. A feature which is not only extremely useful but endlessly entertaining with a short execution cinematic.

Leveling up your character (Maxed out at 20) will also help you in battling tougher enemy characters. You are presented with several skill sets to improve upon including Barter, Repair, Energy Weapons, Medical, Science, Lock pick, Sneak, Speech, Big Guns, Small Guns etc… Choose wisely as each attribute allows you to do such tasks as hacking computer terminals, winning speech challenges, picking locks, bargaining for better prices on traded goods, healing and weapons repairs.

I noticed the game to be a bit repetitive at times. Speaking to a character more than once tends to generate the same dialog and various parts of the wasteland are not only impossible to navigate but there is an endless barrage of invisible walls. The wasteland is beautiful and depressing at the same time. The game draws you into the story and you begin to actually feel alone at times. For your scavenging entertainment a disk jockey named Three Dog entertains you with his witty dialogue and limited track selection of vintage songs that survived the Great War which is accessible via your Pip-Boy 3000 once you escape the vault to start your adventure.

Besides the emotional draw to the game it is highly addictive to just wander around the map and explore new areas collecting various items to build new weapons, obtain ammunition and bottle caps (currency) to survive.

Reminiscent of Mad Max Road Warrior there are hordes of Raiders and Super Mutants which leave remains of random wasteland victims in torturous positions such as strung up on ropes, meat hooks, mutilated all symbolizing that there is trouble waiting for you besides mutated animals.
The main quest is fairly short, however there are hours and hours of side quests. The fact you can fast travel to locations is beneficial given the size of the vast wasteland and there is a nice assortment of weapons and even some potential companionships to made which are helpful later in the game.

I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a great RPG.

This sort of thing belongs on your blog. More people can access it easier that way and it doesn't clutter the forum. It gives you more freedom, click the "Find a new MMORPG to play~" link in my signature to see that it filters my blog by game review and has a link and quick scores to everything I've reviewed.

edit - That blog is actually a pretty good idea, I should set up a DIC one because I never really update my other one.

lol here I am trying to contribute to the betterment of society with a dismal tale of wasteland debauchery and I get ridiculed. Hmmph!

Game Play – RATING icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif

This game it’s a perfect 10 from me. I love games that give you the option to purchase new weapons and upgrades for them. In this game there are a small variety of weapons for you to choose from which makes the game that much more challenging. You can upgrade your weapons using Power Nodes which are found through out the game in blue boxes on the walls.

Ammo can sometimes become an issue if you are not smart about it. At the beginning of the game you learn the shooting the enemies in the body has little to no effect. You need to shoot off their limbs in order to kill them quicker. I found a great way to go about the game is to beef up you Plasma Cutter and shot the bag guys legs off. Once you do this they fall to the ground and you can walk up and stomp on them to kill them. Each enimey you kill drops either health, ammo, or money.

Throughout the ship you are on there are Stores and Work Benches. At the stores you can purchase and store all your supplies, along with this comes random work bench locations where you are able to apply your Power Nodes to your weapons and armor. Don’t get all excited though, you can’t purchase every gun and armor suit right away! You need to find the schematics that are scattered over the ship.

There are also Zero gravity areas where you can fly around and makes for interesting battles when you can fly up the ceiling and start walking around! There are also areas where there is no air and you rely on your suit to provide you with it. This becomes an issue if your suit is not upgraded and you need to be outside for an extended period of time. Better make sure you have some back up air cans!

Only thing I have to say that is negative about the game play is that the map can be a little tricky to use. But once you get used to it you are ok.

Worried about getting really far and you haven’t saved for a while? Fear not, Dead Space is littered with save locations.

As far as game play is concerned Dead Space delivers everything you need to keep you going. I am already almost through my second play through and will probably play it through a couple more times. Dismembering these alien things never gets old!!!

I have to again go with a 10 here. The detail put into this game is phenomenal. There is plenty of blood and body parts, along with things scratched into the walls. Along with the fighting and short movie scenes, they also put a lot of detail in to your little pop up visual communicator screen.

Not too much to say here other then they did a great job on the detail in the game.

Story/Plot – Rating icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif icon_up.gif

I need to go with a 10 here too. The this is like a great mystery horror movie. I couldn’t stop playing because I wanted to know what happened next and find out more about what had happened to this ship. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself lost in the story. There a plenty of audio, video, and text logs laying around that will keep you on the edge or your seat wanting more. They do a good job of continually feeding you information and the story is great.

Just remember the bag guy isn’t always who you expect it to be.

Online/Multiplayer – N/A

All in all this is a fantastic game and if you are looking for a good scare and thrill this is the game you need to get. Make sure you play it with the lights out!!
