I need assistance modifying an xml file. The application's sole purpose is to move files upstream to a different computer.

This xml file will be present on multiple devices pushing similar data upstream. The problem that I have is that all these devices are pointing to one location, so if two devices pushes up a file with the same name, one of the files will be overwritten.

Is there some code I can add to the xml file that checks the upstream folder to see if the file it is trying to push already exist and if so rename it.

Or

I also would like ot know if there is a way to automatically include the name of the device in the files being uploaded.
Where the XML files locates computer name.

Ex. Original file name = test
Computer name = JOEPC
Result= test_JOEPC (Or vice versa)

The devices must have been configured to know where to put the file. Can you reconfigure each one to put their own file in a different directory, or write a different filename to the same directory?

XML is just a file format. If the application that is copying files doesn't check for duplicates, then the file is going to be zapped.

There were some programmes for XP to find duplicate files. I wanted to delete music duplicate file I used the programme Clone Remover for such aim. It helped me. And not only for music files. For pictures, music and a lot of others. Now it is more free place on my PC smile.gif
