IM pretty new in Perl and find myself writing small programs and building on them putting them together. Anyway i just wwanted to know how can you extract numbers from strings ? my regular expressions need work. I tried using the binding operator but its not working the way i though that it would. i guess its more on the side of true or false and not dealing with the actual numbers. PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE!!

PS the only way that i am able to extract numbers is with some trickyness of shell scripting and the a few sed commands to isolate the actaul number that i want but i know that there is an easier way!!!!!!!

post a before and after example. When you say "extract numbers" its not clear what you want to do.
