Hi, friends!

I have a question - could you please give me links to the best resume/job sites for the US, please? I am planning to move there since I'd already lived in America for a total of two years.

No advises to google, 'cause I did - there are just too many of them. Also - no patriotism - believe me, I am a patriot of Ukraine, however, I have my reasons to try and look for luck in America... whatsthat.gif

What I need is THE MOST EFFECTIVE job/resume site from your own experience.

Thank you very much, and if it's not the right place for the post - please move it to where it will be!

If you know what areas you are looking at, try looking at their craigslist.org sites. Not really a place to put your resume, but they seem to be one of the best places to check for job postings.

I was hired to my current job after posting my resume at Monster.com.

I knew I wanted to leave my old job, so I just left my resume on Monster as a hook in the water. I was incredibly lucky and extremely patient. I constantly received invitations from head hunters looking to do temporary staffing; guys who had never read my resume and were offering positions far below my skill and experience level. I was finally contacted by a couple of legitimate recruiters; one offer fell through, the other turned out to be a great opportunity.

From the hiring side, I'm not sure I'd ever use any of the large search sites. They're expensive and return little benefit; unscreened resumes, duplicate resumes, tons of low-level people, and so on.

Ladders.com looks interesting, but it requires payment. This might solve some problems--prescreening, for example--but I haven't tried using it yet.

While it doesn't hurt to list your resume at these sites, particularly if you're not paying, I think you're better off submitting your resume directly to companies that interest you and following up carefully.

Good luck!
