The Pragmatic Programmers Guide to Programming Ruby Aka the Pick Axe Book because of the pick axe tool on the front. Enjoy!

It looks like it will be fun to learn and I just need some help thx A very good book to start with is "beginning ruby: from novice to professional" - though there are some parts in there which are very confusing, and you have to really use google to search for the meaning of the syntax of things. You will need a text editor - like "textmate" and learning how to use your terminal to run your programs is also a good thing. That would be a good starting point.

It is especially helpful if you are new to programming in general, but it is also a very good beginners' guide to the Ruby language. I must also stress Realedazed's suggestion of the free core Ruby course at RubyLearning.org where I help out as a mentor. The course runs for 8 weeks and will give you a solid foundation in core Ruby. There are also several other courses available at the site, so be sure to check them out as well. Be careful about which books you read though...some books I've been through are outdated with the syntax. I kept getting errors running through certain tutorials until I googled the problem and found the error. The more recent the better. Thane
