So I went and picked up Halo Wars yesterday after work. Anyone else get it?
I played it for about 45 minutes before I had to leave, but from what I played it didn't look that bad. I need something different and I've never played a game like this before.
For those of you that have played it, what are your thoughts?
Those of you who didn't get it, will you? why or why not?
It is a tough call - very tough call. With 2k dropping MLB - then that will free up the licensing for baseball games and I feel EA will pick up the slack.
The reason for this - they made the best baseball game ever imho with the Triple Play Series. I was devastated when they dropped this IP. (They tried to do the whole college baseball thing - but I mean come on College Baseball? why not make a College Lacrosse game etc.,)
I bought 2K8 and am struggling to get through the achievements on it. I hate the control scheme, the choppy graphics from time to time, the repetitive announcing (this is common in most all sports games).
I think the new trend with professional sports games is going to be live roster updates, something people have been screaming about for years and has been very successful since it's inclusion in NBA. My biggest complaint about this is not having the ability to play your stars when they are injured online, however this isn't a huge issue since I play my sports games offline for two reasons anymore.
Competitiveness - I have yet to play a game where I am up by more than 2 touchdowns, and the doucher on the other end gets pissed he is getting his ass kicked and leaves. Plus the servers are always laggy as hell (EA Servers)
I really hope this means 2k's license is expiring and EA does pick it up. To keep the 2K9 series alive by yearly roster updates is overkill and brings nothing new to the table except some new names in uniforms.
mlb 2k is done????whaaaaaaaaaa!?!? mlb2k5 was the best baseball game ever. i regret buying 2k7 but it seemed like they were headed in the right direction but were just taking too small of steps each year. thats a real shame. i really hope the NHL2k series does not go the same way....
and honestly, i prob would play mlb2k5 if i could play it with new rosters and such. i would most definitly keep playing nhl2k8 if that were the case.
o and do u happen to have a link to where u saw mlb2k9 will be the last one? i cant find anything about it..

I didn't read it, both people in Game Stop told me that. So I am just going off what they are saying, but i mean they work in a Game store so i would hope they know what they are talking about. Usually they have pretty good "inside" information so I am going to say that they are probably right.
2K is just dropping baseball not any of the other games.
I just might do that, I have an online account with BlockBuster (Like them better than Netflix) so I can just add it to my queue and they send it to me.
From what I heard - if you like RTS games you will LOVE Halo Wars. Even people that aren't huge fans of RTS LOVE Halo Wars. As long as you go in knowing it is not Halo and like those kind of games you will LOVE Halo Wars!
If you do get this let us know, cause I am on the fence with it.
Well, it is no Halo game. It is really closer to Starcraft for the look and the voices for the covenant are totally off.
There are good parts of it however.
It is easy to get into, has fast paced game play, and enables you to do the campaign mission in many different ways (though you still have to accomplish the tasks set forth to finish the mission). Ensemble has obviously taken some liberties with the game and has changed some of the story line (as far as I can tell it is a prequel to Halo, yet there are brutes as enemies, which only show up in Halo 2, when they join the Covenant)
In all, it pulls off the RTS thing pretty well for a console.
I played through the demo and just got back from buying the actual game, so there is at least one person willing to pay for it Maybe it is just my Starcraft fix finally being fulfilled with updated graphics...
So I got lost in the multiplayer last night for about four hours. Me and two friends decided that we would try it out and see what it was like.
Let me just start off by saying that this is an absolute blast. You can play 3v3 and all kinds of different games. We did the 3v3 the whole night and it was really really good. It was fun trying to figure out with them how we were going to attack the other people. It was fun when someone was gettting attacked and you sent your army over to help them out.
I've been looking for something different to play and this is def it. Loads of fun on line and has got me and my friends hooked.
I would def pick this game up if you have not already.
