Hey guys, its been a while since I showed my face on DIC but I have been busy trying to pack up to move. But just wanted to let you guys know that I am going to go to a software developers group dinner on wednesday and the topic is Ruby on Rails. I am going to record the audio, take notes, and report anything interesting here by the weekend.

If there is anybody here in the Reno area, check this group out at http://softwaredevelopersgroup.com/ .

Hello all. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend this event like I planned. It was a pretty rough day at work. We have been laying small groups off here and there since October, then started getting mandatory days off, loss of benifits. Well, now we are cutting two dozen more employees, 15% reduction in pay, loss of dental and vision, and no more company paid employee health benifits. Plus we still have the mandatory day off, so its like losing 25% pay after its all said and done per period.

I don't mean to bore you guys with that. Luckily they were accepting volunteers to be "laid off" and I am taking it. I will make more on unemployment and my wife will qualify for Medicaid to help pay for my son's delivery. So a blessing in disguise. I guess this will give me a few months to focus on learning how to program right?
