hey guys,

just had a thought and not sure if that site feedback site is still up. I'm wondering what your thoughts on putting a code flag on all technical topics would be like? So in other words when a topic is posted, if the code tags were utilized then show a little "code" item on the topic title in the forum so mods can go through quickly and see who hasn't posted code... would this work? or am i totally out to lunch? lol

Cheers

That may work, but not all topics require code, and you have to remember that not all topics that utilize the code tags actually have code either. Some people type their question in the code tags.

It would only be possible if you parsed the text (in the tags) to see if it is code.
Even then, they could still put their question inside that language's representation of comments.
CODE

/* Can i hav codez? */

CODE

Rem Can i hav codez?

CODE

'Can i hav codez?

All valid code, but useless.

True, but at least they'd have to make some effort to get around the system, which would mean that they would have to read the rules! That's the real problem. Lots of first time posters don't read the rules at all. They just post their request for code and hope somebody will give it to them.
