Hi guys, new to these forums my name's Kev and I'm a college freshman. So I've been deciding on which direction I should take my IT degree in. In my college, they have IT as one main program and then they have sub-divisions like Graphic Design, Corporate Security, Cyber Forensics, Computer Security Systems, and Business. I'm unsure as to which one I want to go in. Well basically since I suck at programming, I want to know which one has the least amount of programming, if anyone knows out there, I just thought this would be the place to ask such a question, thanks.

if you hate programming, it doesnt leave you much of a choice, except design jobs, such as graphic html, etc

A Graphic Arts degree combines the technology of computers with creativity and imagination. If, from what I read, you hate programming, there really are very few options in IT left for you. If you are interested in pursuing a Degree in Graphic Design and Graphic Arts, I would highly recommend you visit CollegeAmerica. Their graphic arts degree mixes an artist's creativity with computer skills and business intelligence which most of the companies rely on nowadays. Also, it will prepare you to take your creative talents into the fast paced business world.

I would advise against graphics career as it doesn't have much job security.

I am not sure about those sub-divisions you listed but perhaps networking?

There is are a few very promissing IT jobs in the business sector that involve high knowledge of computers without too much of the programming aspects. One job is known as a Database Administrator (DBA) you could be responsible for designing and maintaining the database(s) for a company. Also a more "all encompassing" job title is the System Analyst. System Analysts are kind of liaisons (middle men) between programmers and businessmen. You would be responsible for taking the practical application requirements from the business guys and translating that into programming specs for the code monkeys. And vice versa, if the programmers say that something is not feasible then you must try and explain to the business guys that they should alter their requirements. They're both very interesting job lines

Out of what you listed Business would probably have the least programming, but IT is not going to be much fun if you don't like programming. You could try focusing on getting better and/or enjoying the challenges that come with programming.

Another option would be to focus on Hardware related subjects though there may still be programming ( possibly low level programming).
