hi,

I am a II year computer science student.I am using GNU/Linux as my OS and while searching for new things all the time I collide with Apache ,and after some hard work, i am up and running with LAMP which is globally accessible .And as cause drive the solution I started to learn HTML and CSS and completed basics of both within a month.I have successfully set the web page and am interested in PHP and MySQL.But again streaming through the net I came across the QT4 and I am gone mad about it.While Qt4 is API development kit, and learning halfway about web development
I am confused to go to which way?web devlopment or Api devlopment.

One thing is for sure I am gonna learn QT4 at any cost ( either interest driven or profession driven).
but for the professional preference.

Well this is really up to you at this point. If you like web development go that route, if you like developing desktop applications go that route. Do whatever you like best. And that being said, if you do go into web development that is not saying you can never again do desktop development. So really it comes down to what you like doing. Hope this helps... Cheers

I'd say at your stage in education you want to broaden your horizons rather than narrow them. Whichever you go for now, come back and learn the other at a later date.

I'm a little biased as a web developer, but I think both are excellent choices. However, in the near future, I don't see there being much value to programs that cannot access the web to access greater data sets. My advice.

Learn everything.

If you're in it for the money, web developers are in high demand. That's one of the most common positions posted, if not the most common... ".NET Web Developer needed ASAP!!!"

I'd say absorb as much knowledge as you can handle. I wish I knew a whole bunch of languages and technologies, but when you program for 8 hours a day for 40 hours a week at a job that you may or may not enjoy, sometimes you just don't want to do anything but relax when your work day is over. Don't get me wrong, I love programming, but it's the work that I do that isn't satisfying enough. It's never a good mindset to think that you're not expendable by a company, so that's why I keep trying to learn.
