Swine Flu

Posted 27 April 2009 - 11:00 AM

Hey, everyone, i have been watching the news lately and it seems that quite a big number of people are being infected by the deadly pig flu. For now no infections were found in my country yet but in Mexico and USA the flu seems to be spreading really quickly. What do you think about this issue? Will pig flu be the next big epidemic that would kill(hopefully not) millions of people around the world? Do you have any precautions that you would like to share with us? I am really scared of this virus to reach the rest of the world :( I have always hated pigs... What do you think about this issue?

There's already a few suspect cases in the UK, too.

Google have got a map detailing where everything has been found so far:

Probably just like the big deal of the bird flu a few years back and it will fall away into oblivion.

Will wait and see what happens.

a) not good in that it has killed a bunch of 25-40 yr olds which is a sign of a stronger disease than one that takes the weak.

B) mexico might be covering up up to 200+ deaths to prevent craziness

c) globalization has already pushed it past the point of containment and its person-to-person transmission makes it easier to transfer

=============================

a) tamiflu has some possible effects on it

B) 3-4 months we will have a vaccine

c) american healthcare system has massive stockpiles of antiviral drugs in relation to mexico

d) fearmongering.

Who cares? It only affects pigs, right? And I'm a perfect gentleman so I don't really worry about it.

Well actually your point is right in General, but the problem with the big flu is that the virus has mutated in such people CAN pass the flu to others just as an ordinary flu does, unlike the bird flu in which people are infected through directed contact with birds and not direct contact with people who are infected :S, and pertaining to finding a cure, i heard that Japanese scientists are working on it but will not be ready before ar least a month...

Yep Yep, will not worry about it until I get it. Life is to short to live in fear of disease If I get the disease then I will have to worry about that to survive. Until then I will avoid coughers and such and hope for the best.
