Visual Basic 6 - From Start To Finish. I remember I was doing every example from that book and seems like it really set my foundation in the domain.

A big silver book that came with my TRS-80 when I was about 6. It taught BASIC.

C++ A Beginner's Guide by Helbert Schildt

I admit, this isn't the best book around, but it was this book that inspired me to program at first.

I don't know if you can call it a programming book, but my first was a "Crash cours in HTML" or something, but it sparked my interest in programming back in mid 1990 (which ended up in PHP). :ph34r:
