Beginning Programming For Dummies. It had little bits of a bunch of languages, like C++, realbasic, html, javascript, with mentions of java and sql. Later I moved on to C++ for dummies after I had chosen which language to follow. Although now I've branched out to tons of stuff,

Programming and Interfacing the 6502 with experiments.

That was the first book I bought beyond the programming manuals that came with the computers I had.

Illustrating BASIC (A Simple Programming Language)

I can't believe I found this book. I'm also amazed it's still in print.

I didn't actually have a computer, but had terrorized the odd VIC-20 or Apple ][ enough to be curious. I believe I read it in the summer of 1981. Guess that makes me sound old. :P

A big silver book that came with my TRS-80 when I was about 6. It taught BASIC.

I still have the big silver book of games for the TRS-80. It had 20 or so listings of games in BASIC. At that time I thought it was a programming guide. :)
