Need some help here Basic input and output from SQL

Posted 01 May 2009 - 12:16 PM

I am going to start off...
I am not a student, this is for my personal site. No cheating class here.

I'll be honest here, My site is simple except for this one feature that I need. I can do all of the design and everything but I just dont have the time to learn the PHP site of doing this. I understand the basics of how it works but not the actual syntax of the code. If i could have someone write up the page for me I would be greatly appreciative. I can learn more by going through the work that someone else has done then by looking through tutorials that dont do exactly what i need. My request is fairly simple and the mockup is attached

If you look at the attached JPG you will see what i need.

I can input the database connection info if you just put notes telling me what goes where.

I was also hoping that if someone was to do this for me they could include the injection prevention codes. I feel like this should be an hour long project for anyone who knows what they are doing... for me... at least 8 hours of hell...

Please let me know or just email me the files... if you have any questions please ask.

I completely appreciate everyone who reads this and hope it doesn't create too much static.

Thanks a ton!

Instead of giving us your sob story a thousand times, lets go into the above statement in a little more detail. I looked at the attachment, I'm not sure what you are trying to do.

Also, this isn't a code sweat-shop, we are about learning & sharing. If you want drive through service, check with McDonalds.

All I need is a page that accesses my database (I can set up the DB with whatever fields need to be set up) and allows for the information in a text box (or 2) to be stored. This information (text only) would be stored along with the time, date, and an incrementing index.

That is it.

I need to be able to post a note (and location for that note) to myself that is time/date stamped and given an ID.

I was also hoping that I could get it secured so that the sql script injection type of codes wouldn't work. Basically hoping the code to sterilize the input data would included by who ever does this for me.

If you want some one to do this for you, hire a programmer. If you want to learn to do it yourself, you're in the right place. Simply write code to the best of your ability and post it here with clear, concise questions about problems you have with it.

Oh, and since you seem to have missed this with every post:

Give your topic a descriptive title, NOT "Help" or "Plz Help Me" or "I'm a noob"
Describe any errors you are encountering. Help us help you!
Search for your problem before posting a new topic.

... ok ... I didnt miss it. I figured it is maybe an hour worth of work for someone who knows.. and again, probably at least 8 hours for me. And its not worth the time because I am not going to use the knowledge.

its kinda like this...

would you hire a graphic designer to edit a background out of a single image if you had no idea how to use photoshop? It's not like it's a full blown graphic design project. I highly doubt you would hire someone.
And about learning it... if you didn't plan on using it in the future why would you waste hours do learn photoshop from the ground up just to cut out a background... Something simple for anyone who knows photoshop but a real pain for some one who has never used PS.

im not trying to evoke sympathy or have a sob story. I just figured someone might be able to help me out with an hour of their time.
I figured who ever would be able to do it would likely have canned code they are already using and might even take less time.

Any way, I appreciate everyone who has read my request and apologize to those who have taken offense to it.

I will ask one last time and I guess I will be on my way.

Is anyone willing to help my out with my request?

looks hard

i guess by the look off the pic u want like a message board

but a cuttom 1 :P

well i think you should have a table in your datbase called message

then when some 1 types the message they want on the page and when they click post it makes a new line in table

like a regster script :) but it wount regster them it will add the date you want to the datbase

so ud make a table called messages and make 3 vaules coment and time_stamp and location

then make a new page with a few fourms on

:) pretty easy if thats what your looking for

find a gd regster page and edit it :)

to what your need so instead of it added a username and password and email to the datbase it would add coment and timestamp location pretty easy

:)

thats if u want a message bord

sorry about my spelling in a rush lol

No, it's like this: You're running a business, say a grocery store. Would you give away a pack of gum because some stranger asked nicely and pointed out that the gum was cheap, and they weren't looking to feed a family of eight for Thanksgiving?

it's exactly like that... especially since this message board is a business..

it's more like this:

a woman needs help changing her flat tire and you want her to get her car towed and go to a dealership to get her tired changed instead of just pulling over and helping her change her spare.

or she has a dead battery and doesn't have jumper cables... "stupid person, why dont you go buy some and then ill charge you to get a jump from me."

I was hoping it wouldn't go this route but that was stretching it.

No, a student might be closer to what you've described, but even then, they need to do their own homework. You're doing this for what is clearly a business -- a MONEY making enterprise -- and yet you don't want to pay for labor. Are you going to be giving your products and services away? I don't think so.
