Indeed... how much Object Oriented concepts has Hanosh gone over with you guys? If not many, I'd like to do a presentation on OO as a concept (not directly related to any 1 language) as well as Programming from Design rather than programming from code.

you mean oop as in like classes and stuff? cuz if so i dont know how many people know that in there, we just go chapter by chapter on our own, i personally know how to use classes and stuff a bit, but i dont think a lot of other students do. so i think that would be a good topic..of course if thats what you meant by oop in c++

That's what I wanted to bring up too, about how poorly designed code is hard to interface with the APIs.

i think anything for c++ would be good. like program structures and stuff would probly be good. i think the oop one would be good too, cuz i would personally like to hear that one. maybe some stuff about how it is applied in the real world and what kind of careers use it. that sorta stuff would be good to know

I plan on trying to relate some good real world examples to OOP and how changing your thought and design process to reflect the OOP methodology can allow for faster development, more organized and efficient code, and better maintainability and scalability. It will not be catered to C++ but rather all languages that have an OOP architecture (Java, PHP, C++, .NET, ColdFusion...)

Nova, maybe we can tag team that topic, I know I HATED flowcharting in high school and I'd just like to show the benefits of designing even if you don't use some silly UML or specific technique, just laying out your program in a structured manner prior to designing.

There are a couple good articles on how programmers are in fact designers and not coders... I have mixed feelings on this, but will discuss them more during our dialouge with the class.

sounds good to me...but when you come in...hanosh might tell you this to, there is a kid in c++ that blurts things out a lot and interrupts, im sure hanosh will tell you, but its just a warning in case.

I will get them tomorrow I guess. We'll try to come up with some resources, and examples or information about the questions/topics you wrote down.
