Uploading Website into WWW

Posted 18 May 2009 - 03:31 AM

Hi.

I have created a website in Dreamweaver and everything works fine. But now, I want to upload it to the WWW but don't know how to. Can anyone give me the basics or advice? I think I need a web host but I am not so sure about it.

Thanks.

Yup, you need a webhost with FTP access. Most web hosts have that sort of access. Also make sure it has all the features your website will want to use. Like if you are using PHP or ASP make sure it has that.

Most web hosts will cost you anywhere from 4-10 USD a month depending on how much space you buy and how many months you buy at a time (it gets cheaper if you pay for a whole year rather than month to month).

Once you got a web host setup, in Dreamweaver you will see a section where you can setup publishing options. You usually do this when you setup your "local site". There you can specify FTP and enter your hosts address, username and password to the FTP site.

The following page should help give you an idea (this might be a bit older than your version of dream weaver but it will be similar)...

How to publish files using Dreamweaver - eHow.com

You can also use a standard FTP client to simply upload your HTML pages to the website. You can use free FTP clients out there, enter the host info and username and password. Then navigate to your files on your computer and upload them to the server.

Hope this helps! :)

Well, I just used the HTML part and saved it as a separate file. Then I use DriveHQ File manager and uploaded it to my account. Finally, I published it from there.
