Hi.
I see that some language forums have a "Tutorials Suggestions" thread, and I was wondering if there should be one for Snippets. What do you think?
Thanks.

To put it simply a "Giz Meh The Codez" section.

not what I meant. Its like they give us the "idea" and try and write it. Like the tutorials.

Care to be more specific than "Some Languages"? If interest in a language goes up and snippets are submitted, eventually they will get their own category. Until then, they have a home in the "other" category

Some Languages =
-C/C++/C#
-VB(.NET/6)
-Java
-ASP.NET
-PHP
-Perl/Python
-Coldfusion
Actually, basically all of them have a "request a tuorial" thread.
But, Just a thought.

I understand, you want a "request a snippet" thread.
I have to agree with AdamSpeight2008 on this one, it would become a thread filled with assignment requests. If you don't understand something a tutorial will teach someone how the particular idea works instead of just giving them the code.

Though it has sparked an thought. (I don't if it technically possible though.)
A sub-forum similar to the discussions sub-forums.
Where a topic setter (A user of a particular rank or higher) posts a coding challenge
eg. Display the first 1000 primes.
Any user above 10 post can reply (but can not create new topics) with their solution.
(If technically possible, users above a certain rank can not reply.)
After a period of time has passed (2/3 weeks).
The solutions are judged under some criteria to determine to a winner/s.
With kudos possibly awarded. (Suggestion 25pts)
Then the topic is locked
It like we're posing an homework task, not getting them.

Now that is a fine idea. And yes, we would be just be posting a suggestion, like a competition.

Instead of submitting tiny variations of the same "convert [this] to [that]" snippet over and over and over again in every language, and worrying so much about your kudos and winning the $25 prize every month, and wasting my moderators time submitting copyrighted snippets you copy/pasted from other sites (you know who you are), maybe you could actually read the questions posted every day and see what the real need is like our more respected authors and contributors.
We don't need a forum or thread for people to request snippets. The very nature of a question posted in the forums should be enough of an idea.
Look at someone like PsychoCoder, he has submitted unique snippets based on questions and posted in the .NET forums. After he answers a question, if it was a UNIQUE request, he may create a quick snippet so the next person that asks the same question has an example to look at.
If it hasn't already started, we are going to start rejecting the low quality snippets being submitted that don't meet our guidelines. You wonder why your snippets sit unreviewed for days at a time while others get approved. That's because the quality is so low, the moderators don't even bother to review them when we get 20-30 high quality submission a week, and 100+ low quality submissions. We focus on the high quality stuff
Just a hint....
