To be honest, it's kinda boring in my opinion. Add some gradients/ Photoshop effects in there. It's a little 1990's for me.

Its not bad but the design has been implicated im so many places. You might want to try something unique, yet effective.

Theres no real evident change. And I also agree that the top advertisement is poorly placed. It should either be at the bottom or a small one down the side, thats if you can.

best place is a small wide one, just before the content starts - i would say
