I use Notepad++ for text editing. Since I'm cheap I use OOo, which gets the job done just as nicely as Word, IMO.

I really like Word's new method for inputting mathematical notation. I am a particular fan. I think that it actually comes fome open office but...

Agreed. Really useful for fractions and such.

Satisfactory does not mean best, or even good.
Word will do, if nothing better offers, but luckily ......

Word is not a text editor. Text editing is something it can just about manage, but it's not what it's designed for. Did you mean "word processor"?

For me, the best text editor (given the context of this as a porgramming site) is Vim, hands-down. Second best, probably Notepad++.

The best word processor for me is either Openoffice.org Writer or Lyx.

I'm biased to Emacs, because I'm a LISP lover. Clojure and Haskell have emacsized me for ever. <3

I got Office 07 for free so i use it and personally i love it
the tab system is very useful, i also have used OOo and
i installed it in my other laptop, but i really like the new
Office, and as long as i have it for free i'm sticking with it
over anything else.
