Converting a .NET 2.0 console application to .NET 1

Posted 28 May 2009 - 08:26 AM

Hi!

I have a c# console app which, when run copies some files to a folder and now the "Target Framework" is set to 2.0.
I want to make the app run on any computer without upgrading .NET framework.

How to do it?

Thanks!

are you sure the computers don't already have .Net 2.0? If the automatic updates are enabled, .Net 2.0 should already be installed.

If you are positive about the version, then I would say you need to get VS2003, which I think allows you to code for .Net 1.

.NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1 are outdated versions. I would recommend upgrading to .NET Framework 2.0 since it supports older Windows systems too. There is no possiblity to target older plaftorms in VS2008 (I assume this is what you are using since you can select the target platform).

.Net Framework is a runtime host a kind of processor ,not going into to much of details

C# is a .Net Lang,so any application created in .net lang cannot run without it.Now it comes for version, you can run lower version application in a computer having higher version installed like if you created your application using .net 1.0 it can be run on a platform having version 2.0 or 3.5 but the opposite is not true.

If you want to do that you have to create an installer that will check the version of .net before installing your application.

On installers try google and also search for "AdvanceInstaller" its a program that creates installer for your application.

Hope it works
