Some Images dont appear when site viewed online

Posted 31 May 2009 - 01:20 PM

I'm having a problem with a website I've created for myself. The intention of the site is to show my photos to visitors. I purchased a template online and edited it with DreamWeaver CS4.

When I run the site from my computer stored locally, it displays all pictures within the web brower. However, when I upload it to my web host's ftp and try to view it online through my domain some pictures do not appear.

THe code is as follows

<DynamicWeb>

So for example, in the code the pictures labeled img4.jpg, img6.jpg, img12.jpg, img13.jpg, img15.jpg and img16.jpg are working and viewable online. The rest of the images (img18.jpg, img19.jpg, img21.jpg, img22.jpg, img23.jpg, img24.jpg, img25.jpg and img26.jpg) do not appear on the website when viewed online. The thumbnails are viewable but when clicked the image does not appear just the empty place holder.

The paths for the images are correct and so are the image names. It is frusterating me as some images work and some do not. However, when I launch the site from my harddrive it works perfectly. What have I done wrong here?

Thanks for your support,

BL

Can you provide the URL for the site?

Is it possible the file extension for the files that are not working is JPG, jpeg, png, or gif?

Also, isn't the image tag syntax src?

<img src="path to image">

Thanks for your help no2pencil! It was the extension that was causing the issue. For my own learning here, why is .jpg and .JPG different? I didnt think that it was case sensitive?

Thanks again...I stumbled on this site via a google search while looking for help to my problem....you've been a great help to me!

Linux and unix variants running apache are case sensitive with their urls (because their filesystems are case sensitive). Microsoft IIS is case-insensitive, because Microsoft filesystems are case insensitive. You were probably running it locally on a windows machine and then uploaded it to a linux server!
